Okay first off Happy New Year to everyone. As we usher in 2009 I hope everyone can have much success in their dolly plans for the year.
Today I am wondering if Hobby Lobby is open but they most likely are not. I'm thinking about forcing [info]resiniverous to take me there on the off chance that they might be, but if they're not there's always the mall right next door. I got a gift card for HL for xmas and I wanna go get one of of those bloody knitting machines since it's a pretty quick and easy way to make and SD size hat. Yes I do some knitting, but for some reason with many failed attempts I have not been able to knit in a round that small. But yah....
On other notes, had a fun time hanging out with our friend Sam watching anime last night. I brought dolls that kept us company and we also had quite an exciting (therpudic) time playing with playdough. The crappy part was I got to looking at Kuroku and apparently the glasses he's been wearing put a dent into and a few scratches on his nose. It kinda baffled me becuase Kitsu's been wearing those glasses for around a year and Ryu's got some too, but I think it's becuase of the way they were on Kuru cause his wig is tighter than the other guys. I just ordered some new ones from dollmore too that are currently on the way. maybe there's something I can rig with hot glue for them. I had a fear this would happen and just never got around to making little hot glue nose pieces for them. I think it should work. Current theory is put a glob of hot glue on something and then maybe use a toothpick to place little beads of it onto the glasses, or do it directly with the gun. We'll see how much it fails.

In other news still trying to get things clear for Ikkicon. Man I know I've spent quite a bit on cons in the past, but is it me or are they all just getting more expensive? We're running artist alley table with [info]rlohengramm. We traded a faceup service out for part of the badge/table fee, and still owe her $50... the hotel room is gonna be $80ea a night, so that's $160 a night for me and [info]resiniverous.... And then there's the car trip to Austin.... Just yah. I've been picking the brains of the kids in the meetup thread for ikki on doa about what sort of things they'd be interested in at the table, like styles of clothing or if there'd me interest in me doing hot glue sueding on spot and stuff like that. It's just wows.... cause last year I think I came home with a grand total of $12 and my table fee half is like $25. I was lucky last year I got table space free, but I wanna do more profitable things this year, so I'm looking to at least make $25 at con to cover the cost of the table. I know there's no way to capture back the hundreds we're actually planning to spend to go to the con, stay at the con, and work at the con, so we're definitly looking forward to stepping off and enjoying events with 3 of us running the table.
But yah... I need to get crankin on stuff... another reason I want that damn knitting machine.

So Hobby Lobby was open today. I got my knitting machine... it's a bit of a bust. I read all the directions but I'm apparently missing something. Gotta get in touch with Crystal about what she was doing to make the doll hats with hers.... [info]nereusthebeaded if you could like poke her for info for me it'd be appreciated.
I knitted another doll scarf today... I guess that's one step in the right direction. I wanna start getting some doll clothing together but I just don't have the room here and I keep looking through some things that I'd kinda like to make doll size and stuff, and getting a tad intimidated by the human patterns I wanted to use as reference... I'm thinking maybe my forte is in the accessories dept. I'm gonna dig through some stuff and find my elastic and excess of beads and need to disappear and makes some little bracelet to sell for like .10 or something at the con. Maybe I could get inspired by looking around at some more accessories companies are offering.

I also picked up a learn to crochet book/kit thing so maybe [info]resiniverous and I can maybe learn a few basics before the crochet/knit night next weekend. I'm really looking forward to it. Looking at the book I think I follow some of the basics, I just need to get help from someone to teach me more about doing small round things. doll hats, tiny stuffed animals, and junk like that. But we're hopefully gonna spend some husband & wife time together sometime in the next week seeing what we can learn from the book.

I'm really itching to do a faceup right now, but I don't wanna mess with cleaning anyone's head off at the moment. I really need to get a practice head to try out some new techniques on. [info]nereusthebeaded is there a way you can just get a bobobie head? I figure since I'm just looking for something to practice some stuff on cheap is a good direction, but I just don't want a whole doll, just a head. Also while I'm throwing a bobobie question out, any clue if Elena comes with a magnetic headcap yet?
